Recently, there have been changes, and today, I the new sheriff of Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office, also known as the LASD am here to resolve any worries and questions. As for the former sheriff, he has been replaced due to inactivity within the department, and none of this is his fault. With things getting in the way, I understdoes and so does the government. And with this, I say good luck Brentley Gilbert in the long run. You can will be given the position of Captain of traffic Enforcement.
Things that will change:
Apparatus
Weapon Restrictions
Training Protocols
Patrol Tactics
New main headquarters
Updated handbook/policies
Updated dispatch communications
OFFICES!
First things first, apparatus. Our current fleet of vehicles is very limited, and this will be changed. We will be exchanging many of our vehicles for newer, updated vehicles, and a more diverse range off vehicles for certain jobs. There may be a garage built just for the SD for parking of these vehicles.
Second: Weapon Restrictions. I've seen our restrictions, and I could honestly say I hate them. I'm going to be assigning new rank restrictions on who can take what, how many and how often.
Third: Training protocols. There is currently no training guide on how to correctly interview, review and monitor cadets. I will be making those to guide the FTO members into the fine art of being a training member.
Patrol tactics. I will not disclose too much on this topic, however I will say that I will be assigning jurisdictions to a certain number of SD members to patrol a district.
Main headquarters. Our main headquarters is very VERY limited in space, hence why I'm proposing an idea to move our headquarters to a location that would better fit our department.
Although the SD appreciates Mr. Gilbert's hard work in the policies and handbook, they are going to be replaced with an updated handbook and policies, which will both be available to the general public.
As our current dispatch system with CHP, PD, DoC, etcetera is very disorganized, I'm going to fight hard for a new dispatch system that is much easier to understand, and use. All dispatch communications are jumbled and are impossible to understand half the time.
Lastly, offices. As offices are an essential part of administration, I will be implementing a new office building for administration, FTO and IA work.
Thank you to those who have been supporting the SD, long live Los Angeles and God Bless the United States of America.
